Question from Concerned Mommy
What do you think about this product to block radiation from a smart meter? http://smartmeterguard.com
I don’t understand a whole lot about smart meters, but enough to know I’d rather not have one. But we do have one, so I’m interested in this product to help reduce/eliminate the radiation from it. I don’t want us as adults exposed to it, and I especially don’t want to expose my baby to additional radiation – though it’s everywhere, it seems. I would appreciate any feedback or other suggestions for how to eliminate this radiation from our home and yard.
Debra’s Answer
I’m going to ask some EMF experts to look at this, but at first glance it looks to me like it’s only shielding the FRONT of the meter. What about the back? Like if you are on the other side of a wall it’s attached to?
Not sure about this one…
The best would be to restore the analog meter. Smart Meters transmit radiation AND they add radiation to the electrical lines. (aka “unintentional radiation” or dirty electricity.) No shield can fix that. However for people who have a neighbors meter close to their home- who won’t opt-out, maybe they’d allow this shield installed. It’s one of the best shields I’ve seen so far, because it reduces the radiation, rather than aiming it elsewhere.
In the long term smart meters should be banned.
All my best,

Hello Debra,
The answer to your question about the Smart Meter Guard block the RF radiation behind the smart meter, the answer is yes, it does. Here is why. The electrical utility box that the smart meter is mounted to is made of grounded metal, including the sides and back. RF can not penetrate grounded metal. The only part of the utility box that is not grounded metal is the glass portion of the smart meter. This is where the smart meter transmits it’s RF siganl. Once the Smart Meter Guard is placed over the glass portion of the smart meter the utility box is now completely covered in grounded metal, or is actually a “Faradyay” cage that no RF can escape, not even the back. We posted a new video demonstrating RF measurements at the back of the smart meter and with the Smart Meter Guard installed there is no RF. If you search YouTube for “smartmeterguard” you can see this demonstration. Thanks for your question.
