Question from Angelique
Has anyone found a tolerable version of painters’ tape? The blue and green tapes make me really sick. I wonder if there’s an alternative in case our remodeling job really needs something like that.
Debra’s Answer
Readers, any suggestions?
I have found that regular beige masking tape works almost as well.
The brand Frog Tape in the yellow “Delicate Surface” is , to me, much much more tolerable than other painters’ tapes.
I haven’t tried any of the other varieties of Frog Tape.
Masking tape can be hard to remove and leaves a sticky residue unless taken off shortly after applying.
You can google sources or go to frogtape.com.
I have also found regular beige masking tape works as well. I also will use plain brown paper that I can tolerate to use as a larger mask, but use the tape to stick it on with.
I have needed to air out some masking tapes if they are in a polluted environment though. I usually plan in advance and let the tape off-gas over the summer months in my garage in a container that works for me.
