Well! The world is catching up with me. After forty years of talking about things toxic…the Oxford English Dictionary chose “toxic” as the Word of the Year!
The Oxford Word of the Year is a word or expression that is judged to reflect the ethos, mood, or preoccupations of the passing year, and have lasting potential as a term of cultural significance.
There was a 45% rise in the number of times the word was looked up on the Oxford Dictionary website.

Good, useful information. Can you sing Tom Lehrer’s “Pollution”? That says it all. I cannot eat the food, drink the water, or breathe the air. I truly believe that I was dropped on the wrong planet. My sensitivities isolate me from my friends and family, and prohibit me from attending many social, entertainment and educational events. When my neighbors burn their fire place or backyard fire pit, I am afraid to leave my house with the air purifiers on. I wear my ultra thick activated charcoal mask everywhere I go indoors, but I still can get sick. I can smell one cigarette a block away and around the corner. I surely live a charmed life. Can you suggest another less toxic planet? // Sandra Stedinger
