Question from Stefany
At the moment I can not afford real wood drawers or cabinets. Would metal drawer organizers be non toxic? I want to buy some down below for clothes and kitchen/pantry as well.

Unless you are sensitive to EMFs I think metal dressers are a good choice. Just make sure the metal is not coated with an epoxy or even vinyl coating. One of the items listed is powder coated which is a good choice. There were a couple that listed epoxy coating. I’d avoid those.
I am aware that the Mythic Paint Company no longer exists. They made the only no VOC paint that we were able to tolerate. Do you know if they sold their formula to another company or what other brand of paint is as non-toxic as what this company produced. It was the best paint for non-toxicity and coverage we had ever used. Thank you.
I don’t have any information on the company.
Thanks Lisa! I had no idea about EMFs. Is it because it absorbs it or helps with the transmissions of EMFs? I don’t think i’m sensitive. Also, if it has a rust-resistant finish, i’m guessing that means it’s toxic? Thanks so much!
I you’re not sensitive I wouldn’t worry about it. If you have existing magnetic fields in a room, metal furniture can become magnetized.
A rust finish is not necessarily toxic. If it looks like shiny metal it is probably chrome or zinc coated which is fine.
Thanks so much! Also, just because i’m curious, why is epoxy toxic? It’s just that my closet has epoxy metal racks :/
Once epoxy is cured it is not toxic but it is most commonly made by reacting epichlorohydrin (ECH) with bisphenol A (BPA). Also chemical accelerators can be added. The fumes produced when mixing epoxy can be harmful and proper ventilation or respiratory protection must be used. Again, once the epoxy is cured the off-gassing should be minimal but it will offgas.
This is probably not a big exposure but since you are going out of your way to find a non-toxic product it’s better to choose one without epoxy.
