Hi Debra,
I am looking for a toxic free way to clean the cat boxes. I have always used bleach to soak them in.
Debra’s Answer
I don’t have a cat. Readers, how do you clean your cat box in a nontoxic way?

I use white vinegar diluted 50/50 with water in a spray bottle. Non-toxic, inexpensive, and my cats don’t seem to mind it.
Soak the litter box in hot water to loosen any litter residue so you can remove it. Pour out the water and residual cat litter. Spray the box with hydrogen peroxide, then spray with white vinegar and scrub the box until clean, rinse with hot water and dry. The hydrogen peroxide/white vinegar should not be mixed beforehand as the effectiveness comes from the way it’s applied, one on top of the other in either order; similar in concept to epoxy. This is also very effective for removing pet accidents from carpet and neutralizes any odor from developing (test a small area for colorfastness)
