Question from asmilansky
Hello,
I am confused as to what baking ware is safest and non toxic: cast iron, carbon steel, stainless steel (18/10, 18/8 or 18/0). I have been using mostly glass, but I am now shopping for a muffin pan and those are not available in glass.
Thank you.
Alex
Debra’s Answer
For a muffin pan, I suggest clay.
Here’s just one:
Search on “clay muffin pan.” Look for lead-free glaze or no glaze.
Cast iron would also be fine. Search on “cast iron muffin pan.”
I thougt I’d post this since it’s taken me so long to find a bundt cake pan. I finally broke down and bought the pampered chef stoneware bundt pan. I was concerned about the weight because it’s the same weight as the large muffin pan but it seems to be easier to handle with my bad back. It’s not as clumbsy and I can hold the weight close to my body to get into and out of the oven as opposed to the 12 cup muffin pan. My husband had to put the muffine pan into and pull out of the oven. I was dependent on him to be home when I used them. Weight of the bundt pan is 4.4 lbs without filling it. I weighed it on my food scale. I love their muffin pans and the bundt pan. I haven’t made his favorite bundt birthday in 6 years. I made one today. He was thrilled and so am I! I’ve always had trouble with cakes and breads sticking to the glass pans I’ve used and I figured a glass bundt pan would be the same.
