Question from Carol
Hi Debra,
What unscented soaps or detergents have canaries found tolerable to wash hosiery and hand washable delicates? I used to use the old formula ivory dish soap, but that has not been available for ages.
Debra’s Answer
Readers, what unscented soap for hand washables do you use and recommend?
Dr Bonner’s Unscented, I use it for everything(personal and household cleaning). The 32oz is usually the best deal.
I use Allersearch Laundry detergent which is gentle enough for my cashmere blanket. It’s very concentrated so only takes a little for hand washing.
Also, just plain bar soap like Remwood’s Grandma’s Unscented Lye bar soap is handy or they have laundry flakes (you might enjoy Grandma’s even more than the old Ivory dish soap which was probably fragranced).
I used to blog about fragrance-free living… if Debra’s okay with me sharing a link, here’s my blog post on laundry products. http://www.alonnashaw.com/2013/08/how-to-go-fragrance-free-part-three.html
Hope this might be helpful. 🙂
Almost, forgot, spot test with any product you’re using for the first time.
Miracle soap for handwashing of clothes. Awesome energy.
