Question from Get Dr Oz to ban air-fresheners!
Wondering if we can’t get organized & contact Dr. Oz so he does a show on the toxicity of air-fresheners and perfumes and all-around phthalates-containing products?
There’s a lot of ignorance out there & the biggest scam is calling these air-pollutants “air-fresheners”.
Who’s with me and how can we do this!?
We need lots of emails from tons of IPs to make an impact here.
Perfumes need to be banned from the workplace, and chemicals such as air-fresheners from apt. buildings (bathrooms, gyms and other common areas & eventually from people’s apts. as they waft onto other apts.) so maybe we can get the ball rolling by spreading awareness to those clueless souls who wait hand & foot on the good Dr instead of doing their own research but do take what he says as gospel.
Dr Oz has been rehashing the same 2 topics ad-nauseatum: how to lose weight, how to get skinny and how to lose wrinkles, how to get young-looking like a broken record for years on end.
Debra’s Answer
OK. Here’s where you can make a suggestion for a show: http://www.doctoroz.com/contact
Fill out the form and in the Subject menu choose “I have an idea for a segment.”
I suggest you say whatever you want to say about fragrance and why Dr Oz should talk about the subject.
Then give them this link to Scent-free Victory! and tell them to read the letter from Dr. Anne Steinemann about the toxic chemicals found in scented products.
Tell them to have me as a guest on the show. Give them this URL about my book Toxic Free.
Pass this on to everyone you know. Post a link to this blog on your Facebook and Twitter pages and anyplace else. Now. Today. Let’s send them a lot of messages all at once and see if they pay attention.
Thanks Debra! I am the question originator and have been having PC troubles but glad to see you posted this and others responded and took action already. Wish there was hundreds, no, thousands or respondants instead of just 6 though but thank you to everyone who joined in! I am now writing again to suggest he has you as a guest, that would be wonderful! Please everyone pass this on to all your friends and family and followers, let’s make a huge impact here. Wish this could be bumped to page 1. Thank you for posting this and thanks everyone who participated! Let’s keep at it! Maybe we can email every day, that girl with the Gatorade sure got somewhere. I am anonymous, I don’t seek recognition, I’d rather the recognition go to Debra as you are the one doing the most work for all of us. Thank you so much!!!
Submitted a request to Dr. Oz for a Fragrance Free Show. My personal pet peeve is scented dryer sheets and the neurotoxins they share.
I’ve posted – fingers crossed!
I have written Dr. Oz at least 6 times via Snail mail and many times on line. He had called my Enviromental Allergist last spring and ask him if he would be willing to speak about MCS and he said yes. As far as I know he never called back. I always suggest he call my Dr and Debra.
If he gets more request maybe we can get him to finally do it!!!
I won’t stop and it is time for me to write again.
I filled out the form for Dr. Oz show. I hope you are successful in obtaining an invitation. And if you do get your opportunity, please bring awareness to M.C.S. as a disabling illness that can be caused from the chemicals in these air-fresheners, perfumes, etc. Thank you.
Hi Debra,
Everyone thinks it would be great for Dr. Oz to do a show pointing out the health hazards of fragranced dryer sheets and detergents, however, has anyone noticed who is paying for his show? His top advertiser is the mfgr of TIDE!
Money talks! I HIGHLY doubt he is going to comprise his advertising funding for a group of people who have MCS and are afflicted by these items. If he actually agrees to discuss this and bring out the toxicity issue of these products he will be cutting off his funding. We must always remember folks, “IT’S ALWAYS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!” If it were really all about health, don’t you think there would be much further strides made re:our illness and the LACK OF PROMOING toxic chemical products? Somehow, we need to backtrack and go back to the origin that Debra initiated several months ago about targeting the manufacturers. That is the point of reference and the folks we need to be putting our energy and money into.
Sorry, if my comment has disappointed some, however, that is the reality of our world and having worked in advertising for many years recognize that if Dr. Oz values his show, he will keep his advertisers HAPPY!
I agree and am totally against any air freshener emitting toxic chemicals as I have MCS. However that said while I agree with targeting manufacturers problem is the people who buy them and use them as companies would not be producing toxic products that get others sick,….without customers.
I submitted to Dr. Oz Show “I have an idea for a segment.” And tweeted:

Done! (Suggestion sent to Dr. Oz.)
Thanks so much, Debra, for giving visibility to this vitally important issue. Many thanks!
