We are in the market for dinnerware and was wondering about the safety of Crate and Barrels Roulette Blue Band dinnerware. We like the look, just want to make sure it’s a safer option for families…(it was made in Portugal and is one of the best selling items)

I suggest at least getting a Lead Check swab kit and testing one plate before buying an entire set. You’ll have to purchase the plate but can return it afterwards if it doesn’t pass the test.
You can buy them in the paint department at Home Depot.
I have a slightly left of field question relating to this. I have finally sourced safe dinner ware – hurrah! & thanks for all the help on the website :-).
I want to protect the surface with felt protectors and found a great set but they are Polyester. Would this actually affect the plates and dishes and ultimately me eating off them? Or would there simply be no effect?
I can buy natural wool felt but it works out seriously expensive.

My opinion is that polyester felt protectors would have no effect on your plates and little, if any, outgassing. I just wouldn’t wear or sleep on polyester close to my body.
