Question from Sharon
Hi Debra,
I just had a cavity fixed and I had a reaction to the dental bonding material – mouth got really extremely dry and burning sensation, hard to swallow, one part of my lower lip a little swollen -just from the fumes after she put the bonding agent in my tooth. It will be 3 days tomorrow since the work was done.
I have been using the same materials for several years with a little swallowing problems, but goes away after a day. I took just a little bit of antihistamine last night and woke up with a really dry mouth and sore throat. Very concerned. I see a holistic dentist but they just told me to gargle (??) I have done that a few times, flushed the mouth several times while I was there, brushed my teeth, gums, upper mouth, all over the tongue – still an issue.
Wondering if I might need to have this stuff removed. But not sure what I would put in place of it. I don’t want to go to urgent care, they will just tell me to take antihistamines. I did the dental testing. I am sensitive to everything.
Have you heard about any non-toxic glues/dental materials? Or, what do other people with MCS do or use? Thank you.
Debra’s Answer
Dear readers, I need your help answering this question.
I can research from online materials, however, the best answers come from real experience.
I am fortunate to have not needed cavities filled and other dental work, so I don’t have experience in this area.
But I know many of you have because you have given bits and pieces of information in other comments.
I’d love to put together a really good resource for getting nontoxic dental work done.
If you have knowledge or experience with this, please comment.
Thank you.
i wish this information was more current but i will share what i know/did. a former dentist, now acupuncturist , recommended that i do testing for dental materials with clifford material testing -http://www.ccrlab.com/. the detail in the results was phenomenal – page after page of what should be used, what shouldn’t be used, etc. at the time i was very sick and this was truly a godsend for me in that i was very anxious about any dental work making me even sicker.
unfortunately, this information comes from an experience of about 10 years ago. however, clifford material testing is still operating so maybe it could be helpful. i hope so.
Look up dr. Bob Marshall Protocol for dental work copy and paste this into your search engine

Regarding the testing for bio compatible materials, I had the testing done twice by two different doctors/labs but still reacted to the materials that were supposed to be safe.
The only thing that has worked for me is to take small samples to my chiropractor and have her do a NAET (Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique) (naet.com) treatment on me for each of the chemicals. NAET is an acupressure type treatment that has worked for my allergies and MCS better than all the other traditional and alternative treatments I tried. The website has a doctor locator.
My only concern about NAET is that people may contine to use materials that are otherwise toxic once they now tolerate them. Toxic is still toxic. It’s a different mechanism than sensitivity.
Debra, I agree. Just glad I had NAET access since I didn’t have any choice. My dentist works with me to use the least toxic materials, but that’s not saying much when it comes to dentistry, I know. Sometimes we have no choice but to compromise. Look forward to the day we no longer have to. :~)
I understand and have no objection to you doing what you did. Just needed to add my disclaimer.
Hello Sharon,
I can only personally recommend what I would do if I were you. Find a Holistic Biological Dentist that has a Naturopath Dr. on broad. Have them test you with Biorenesone testing for the most biocompatible materials to go inside your mouth. Muscle testing materials with someone you know who is very experience can work as well. You would need samples of all materials your dentist use and be muscle tested with all the materials to see if again you are compatible with the materials. My family has nothing put in their mouth unless they have been tested and matched with the most bioavailable material for their bodies. The Good Lord made us so special and unique that not all the same dental materials work for everyone. I read somewhere that is why there are roughly 3 thousand different dental materials in existence to be used. Unfortunately, the cheapest ones are often only used ( silver amalgam mercury fillings)unless you personally request safer materials. Some Dentist even work with companies who can match you with biocompatible materials through blood work. I have not personally gone this route. I wish when we were born we would just be downloaded this information about dental materials to prevent suffering. Like Weston A. Price dying words were You Teach, You Teach, You Teach. ( He is a Dentist that after his only son died from a root canal that he performed became infected, He and his wife traveled the world 1920 to 1930’s and visited isolated cultures to answer the question as to why we have dental decay in the first place and how to prevent it. He wrote a book called ” Nutrition and Physical Degeneration.) My prayer is I hope you past this info I have shared with you to your generational line to prevent any more suffering from wrong dental materials being used. Happy New Year!!!
Blessings
