Oh, joy. In addition to this new finding, and the mercury issue, we discovered two CFLs in our home that became burnt/melted while in use. And they do not live up to the claim of longevity at all.
It’s easy to find LED lightbulbs in stores now. I am hopeful they will be a great alternative, and expect the price will continue to fall as they catch on.
Not to mention the added danger of having mercury in them aand exposure to that mercury if one breaks. How careful are people about disposing of used CFL bulbs? Personally, I would not use them.
I wonder if this will impact the CA requirements –
I loathe them – agree most are simply tossed into trash – but whatever possessed such a thing – years of having to be instructed on the proper handling of those long tubes, well flourescent lights are just awful for me and I have to avoid certain businesses due to a high number = I hear them – high pitched squeal and they mess with my nervous system. However it scares the devil out of me about the sunscreen issue – I’ve had to wear sunscreen even indoors for many years (don’t anymore) as I did notice some relief.
