Question from Angelique
Someone on one of my MCS groups is gushing with praise about this expensive air purifier. Do you or any of your readers know anything about it, or have any experiences with it? It’s called Airocide.
Debra’s Answer
I have no personal experience with this, but it makes sense to me.
The Airocide website says:
Airocide is different from any other air purifier you’ve ever heard of or tried because it’s not a filter. This technology, developed by NASA, clears the air of virtually 100% of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) – the harmful gasses emitted by products you have around your home, like aerosol sprays, cleaning supplies, disinfectants, hobby supplies, dry-cleaned clothing, building materials, paints and paint thinners, strippers, pesticides and even air fresheners. This FDA approved device also completely eliminates all mold, fungi, viruses and bacteria (all major causes of allergy symptoms) that enter the chamber. All that exits is clear, crisp air.
Airocide draws in harmful airborne pathogens and forces them into a densely packed matrix of highly reactive catalysts that are activated by a high intensity 254-nanometer light. The reaction destroys these harmful pathogens on contact. Nothing is captured so there is nothing to clean. All that exits is crisp, clear air, with zero ozone emissions.
Readers, any experience?
Yes! I’m on week two of my experimental Airocide unit, and so far I think it’s great! It was especially made for VOCs, but most of the testimonials are for people with pollen allergies. You have to be careful of asking questions of their order-takers; be sure to talk to the company directly during business hours. When I first called them the guy on the phone was saying the weirdest things! I called the company number (not the order line) and they were very concerned that the order-taking service was basically making sh*t up. If the Aircoide hadn’t been so highly recommended to me, I might not have tried it. Hopefully they get a new service!
Anway, there’s a 60-day money back guarantee, so I’m giving it a good try. WARNING FOR MCS PEOPLE: You’ll have to off-gas it for several days. The person who gushed about it to me also warned me about this. Here will be the REAL test of it: We ordered one for my daughter, who’s facing a lot of VOCs in her apartment. Will the Airocide overcome them?
Its just PCO photo catalytic oxidation in a new form factor. I prefer the DIY whole house version form http://www.blueshieldtechnologies.com and the fact thatheir re is no harmful UV
I was thinking about maybe getting one of these for my asthma and allergies, but if it doesn’t work for perfume, then will it work for VOC’s…Very interested…I like the fact that you can get it and pay by the month which is what i would have to do…
I emailed them. They said it does not take perfumes or cooking odors out of the air which indicates to me that it does not work for VOCs
Hi Debra,
We appreciate your interest in the Airocide Air Purifier. It is unlike any other air purifier on the market, mainly because the NASA-developed technology eliminates, instead of just traps, harmful mold, dust mites, pollen and VOCs floating in the air inside our homes. Airoicide has helped many people, but please don’t just take our word for it. We have insightful testimonials, as well as research studies, on our website (https://www.airocide.com) that praise Airocide as a solution to their asthma, allergy and MCS ailments. We do offer a no-obligation, 60-day, money-back guarantee and we’re happy to help answer any additional questions you may have.
Sincerely,
The Airocide Team
