I don’t know the answer. Try finding someone online who restores old stoves. My first thought is to just leave them bare, but I don’t know if there is a reason why not to do that.
Debra, what is your opinion on Lodge enameled cast iron? It’s made in China, but is supposedly subject to third party testing for heavy metals and is on compliance with California standards.
I haven’t researched it, but if it meets California standards, those are pretty high.
