Indoor house shoes/slippers for men, women and children, made of handcrafted wool felt by women artisans. Also felted insoles. Many nice colors and neutrals. I bought a pair of these and I love them. They keep my feet nice and warm on foggy coastal California mornings. “Kyrgies are born of a tradition that is thousands of years old. Kyrgies are produced in Bishkek, Kyrgystan, where wet felting with sheep wool is both a tradition and a necessity. No other textile withstands heat in the summer and the cold, wet winters as well as wool felt. Because of this, the Kyrgyz people have been felting for centuries, passing this skill on from one generation to the next. The Kyrgyz women who make our Kyrgies use felting techniques that have been developed over thousands of years. They mix their hands in water, wool, and 100% natural soap, not harmful toxic chemicals. By sourcing our felt products in Kyrgyzstan, we are supporting a sustainable cultural legacy.” Their All Naturals, Classics, and Insoles meet my toxic-free standards. Do you recommend checking the wool source for pesticides or is mos rod that washed off with the soap and water wash? I also wondered do you opt for non chrome soles or are you ok with C3 tanning?
I’m editing this comment on 4/19/19.
I have since spoken with Kyrgies and found that their wool comes from sheep that are raised by very traditional methods outside of agribusiness. There are no pesticides or chemicals used.
Some of the Kyrgies slippers have C3 on the leather soles, but others do not. The All Naturals line has soles made from chrominum-free leather.
See Kyrgies’ Zero Toxics Materials Disclosure Statement.

Where does it say that the soles are tanned with C3??? I read, “Natural thick leather soles tanned without chrome or chromium.”
I purchased the synthetic soles because I planned to wear them just around the house but next time I’m probably going to buy two pairs—one of each. I wear my syntehtic soles outdoors and they are wearing out.
These shoes are so much more comfortable and so less toxic than most shoes that I am very happy to have them. No odors or anything from the synthetic soles.
There is nothing about these shoes that would make me think pesticides have been used.
